What Is a Death Café

A Death Café is a warm, welcoming space where we gather to talk openly about death, dying, and what it means to truly live.

There is no agenda, ideology, or outcome—just honest conversation, shared presence, and the gentle reminder that talking about death can bring us closer to life.

Gathering Details

When: The 3rd Wednesday of every month

Time: 6:00–7:30 PM PST

Where: Cafe Nell 1987 NW Kearney St. Portland, Oregon 97209

The Death Cafe is held in the Oasis at Cafe Nell enter through side door on NW 20th Ave.

Getting There:

Street parking is available, though it can sometimes take a few extra minutes to find a spot. We recommend arriving a little early to allow time to settle in.

The location is also conveniently close to public transit lines.

• You are invited to bring:

• A journal or notebook, if you wish to jot reflections

• An open heart and a willingness to listen and be heard

Tea and light refreshments will be provided. Come as you are—no need to prepare anything more.

The space is cozy, quiet, and designed to support meaningful conversation.
